Application of non-woven fabrics in vegetable greenhouses

As a new type of covering and thermal insulation material, non-woven fabrics are used in greenhouse vegetable production and have achieved good economic benefits.

1. Insulation. The transmittance of non-woven fabrics for long-wavelength light is lower than that of plastic films. Because the heat dissipation in the radiation area at night mainly relies on long-wave radiation, the covering effect is outstanding.

2. Breathable and humid. The non-woven fabric is made of filaments stacked on each other into a mesh, with a high porosity, breathable, water-permeable, and automatically adjusts humidity.

3, shading and cooling. Covered with colored non-woven fabrics, it has the effect of shading and cooling. Different colors of non-woven fabrics have different shading and cooling effects. The shading effect of black is better than yellow, and yellow is better than blue.

4. Anti-aging. The agricultural non-woven fabric has undergone anti-aging treatment, and the thicker the fabric, the lower the strength loss rate.

After the application practice of vegetable farmers, non-woven fabrics are mainly used in the following aspects in the production of greenhouse vegetables:

✔Used at the bottom of thatch as a "secondary" insulation material. The shed surface of many shacks is not only covered with grass thatch, but also adds a layer of non-woven fabric to the bottom of the grass thatch. According to vegetable farmers, by adding "two-way" thermal insulation material (non-woven fabric), the thermal insulation performance of the greenhouse can be significantly improved, which is 2°C-3°C higher than that of simply covering grass, which is beneficial to the growth of vegetables. In addition, the application of non-woven fabrics on the shed where the roller shutter machine is used can also protect the thatch and prolong its service life.

✔Used on the back wall of the greenhouse as a "slope protection" rainproof material. The entire back wall is wrapped with multiple non-woven fabrics and fixed with steel wire, which can reduce the heat loss of the back wall; it can prevent rain and snow, and protect the wall; it can be covered and weeded to reduce the damage of pests and diseases.

✔ Other applications. It is used in the production of watermelon in multi-film covered arched sheds in early spring.
